SWOS configuration help!
« on: May 30, 2007, 09:02:06 PM »

Hi,
I have downloaded Sensible World of Soccer, but is it normal that:

- It is very slow (takes 5 minutes to start)
- The sound is terrible

and does anybody know the correct settings?

Much appreciated,
Lennart

you must have downloaded an adf copy to play yes?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cO70yirHWM

as you can see from my video, swos adf does indeed take ages... and yes, due the crowd sound in-game, it runs badly with sound on.

i suggest you download the save-state version from the downloads section of this site. it has a config with it for optimal playability.

have fun!

I have a problem saving my career on swos using the savestate, so I use the adf files to play and have an extra save disk file. Loading time is a bummer, but its well worth the wait to get the mighty mansfield town to be european champions!

err...  where is the logic in that?  to save your career on the savestate... just save the savestate over the old one! (rename swos9697.state and swos9697.config to swos9697save.state / .config  if it makes you feel better )

no point fiddling with in-game saving routines, when you have states available.

Hi, new here, just playing an old game I briefly remember from a long time ago. I'm having a bit of trouble and this thread is fairly close to it anyway so I'll just ask here. I downloaded that save state because I thought optimized setting etc. would be helpful but I'm struggling because every time I attempt to load either the save state or the config the PSP hard resets. Just wondering if anyone could spot the obvious problem in that. Thanks.

Edit: I think I'm trying to run this save state on the 94 version maybe  :S I know that wouldn't work but I don't even know that much to be honest.

Horace the master of all things SWOS, should be able to help you out more.

Only thing I can think of, is what kickstart roms do you have, cause that state uses Kickstart 3.0 (kick30). If you do not have that, it will crash.

That'll be it then   ::)

I'm using kick13 at the moment, I'm just learning about how the whole amiga emulation works, quite different from other kinds of emulation I've used. Thanks, I'll try it using that kickstart when I find it.

Hi, I had the same problem when trying Chaos Engine a few days ago.

Just get all of the kicks and put them in the KICK folder. I doubt all of them are needed, but when they are only about 500kb a piece, it really doesn't matter (esp. when you have a 4gb card :))

i dont know how you think you are doing that, but since you load whatever version is in the save-state (9697) there is no way you -could- end up with the 94 version.

you dont need any adfs to use the ram-loaded savestates.

and yes - as has been said - this sounds like a "lack of 3.0 kickstart" problem.
