HH's R.I.S.S. To do list (28-02-2008)
« on: July 18, 2007, 10:39:42 PM »

[WIP with GUI]

EOTB 1 / 2  - version 1 completed
Lemmings 2
Lemmings 2 + Editor
Jet Set Willy 2 / Manic Miner
Cybernoid 1 / 2
Llamatron / Revenge of the Mutant Camels
Populous 2 & Challenge Games
Dungeon Master / Chaos Strikes Back
Bubble Bobble Trilogy
Syndicate - with ADF save transfer
Syndicate Mission Disk: American Revolt - with ADF save transfer

Powermonger / Powermonger WW1 Edition + Save/Disk Transfer
Zeewolf / Zeewolf 2 + Trainers
Populous / Promised Lands / Final Frontier / World Editor + Save/Worlds/Disk Transfer
Super Tennis Champs / Data Disks
Cadaver / The Payoff

[I have lost loading disks for]

Silent Service
Silent Service 2

i would like to concentrate on those requiring guis / front-ends etc, and let other people get on with the rest - so this is just those i have sort of started / have ideas for GUI, or ones where i have old boot-disks.

i've also listed them in the order i will likely attack them (unless i suddenly have an urge  to do a certain one) - if you would like any "rushed to the top of the pile" - just ask, and ill move it up.

after working on the GUI for EOB 1/2 i've come to the conclusion it may be a good idea to include a GUI for save-transfers to ADF, particularly on longer games, where  the user may want to continue their game on WinUAE.

please let me know of any games where you would like this to be included on the save-state.

how about super space invaders (domark)
and F29 retaliator (ocean)

both the above work on 0.70 at reasonable pace, all be it, will slow loading of ADF's ie: reasonable performance frameskip 25.

I'll always help with key configs, remapping to make life easier for users! I love allocating the psp start button to the amiga keyboard button that actually starts the game, this can be difficult if you dont know what button kicks the game off.

I have done this with loads of games already, so have an heads start! lol
I'm also familiar with lots of amiga games! lol.

Maybe I could help payback the enjoyment you've created with your emulator, it's the least I can offer, aswell as the occassional donation, to help with your site maintainance.

guys,

i simply do not have the time to do all of these installs. Sorry, but i've other more "higher level" amiga dev'ing requirements i'm trying to get into, for the greater good of the whole amiga scene... this is primarily in WHDload slave development, which in turn could lead to better RISS being available, as well as benefiting WinUAE, e-UAE and original Amiga hardware users.

i can however create the RISS boot-disks very very quickly, although i cannot guarantee they will be tested.

If FOL will allow it, i will upload all the boot-disks for the above games, to an accessible folder on the server.  that way, anyone can install them.

However, there will be a few requirements of methodology;

1) try to gauge the required settings for PSPUAE using either WinUAE or e-uae... this will save you a lot of time.  A guideline setting is OCS, kickstart 3.0, 2 meg chip and 4 meg fast. although you may find some require more fastram, you may also find you can squeeze some of the others into less. If the game is flashing to black during in-game loading, you arent using enough ram, although sometimes (due to PSPUAEs limits) this is unavoidable.

2) you MUST use kickstart 3.0 and no other. I cannot stress this enough.

3) use the bootdisk with turbo-mode floppy, HD disk-drives if required. The game will take some time to unpack to RAM: - be patient.

4) Save your first save-state at the second WHDload splash screen.... this is the second blue box full of text that appears, and will either say the game's name or simply 'GAME' at the top.

5) setup an optimal config for gameplay, including ideal chipset/cpu settings, zoom-setting (if autozoom is not viable) , keyboard mappings and frameskip. If its a joystick game, put the joystick on both the analogue and the d-pad.  If its a mouse game, you may want to use the d-pad to do something key related (like cursors for movement) with the d-pad. Bare in mind other users when you are making your config.

6) save your config for the savestate.

7) re-load your savestate with the new config, and immediately return to the menu and eject the disks. you must now re-save your state as soon after the splash disappears and the game 'begins' (usually with a black screen) as you can. Try not to have any of the game, even if its just an intro or titles excluded.

8 ) zip up your state and config into the appropriate folders, include readme's for any cheats / advice on the controls you have set up etc inside the zip. - some of the RISS already uploaded such as Bloodwych should serve as a good example here.  you can then attach it to a post on this forum in this topic. Once it's been verified by a couple of users, a member of staff will upload it to the download section.

9) if you are going to use these install disks, please do all of the above and share the RISS with everyone else. The most technical part has been done for you, and you should show your appriciation for both PSPUAE and RISS by sharing... it's for the greater good. There is nothing to be admired in keeping your final RISS to yourself.

i hope even a handful of you will want to help out here, it would be appriciated.

the two of us cannot do everything alone FOL.

i'm quite willing to keep making RISS install disks, providing someone can make even one new RISS from them every few days.
