Install / running probs
« on: August 03, 2007, 11:32:55 AM »

Morning all.
Had UAE working once before, ages ago, then formatted this card to fit some backups on. I'm now trying to get it going again on a freshly formatted card, but it just won't run.

I'm using PSPUAE 0.63 BE and firmware 3.03 OE.

I've followed the readme in all forms, trying 1.50 and 1.0 and PSPUAE folders. My PSP will show the UAE icon in XMB, but once I click it, it comes up with an error and says it can't load the game (ie the entire emu).

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Please tell me I don't need to downgrade my PSP again!

What kernel is your recovery set to?

Also what folders do you have in your MS0:\PSP\ folder?

Re: Kernel - no idea. How do I find that out?

MS0:\PSP\Game
                        \PSPUAE
                        \__SCE__PSPUAE
                        \%__SCE__PSPUAE
              \Common
              \Save Data
              \System

There are both versions of the emu in there as I'm not 100% which one I should be using, and so have tried them on their own, and together. Still no joy.

FIXED!

I went into recovery mode (turn off, hold RB and turn on), went into Config and switched homebrew to 1.5 from 3.03.

Well, if you were doing this, then thats why. Its best to leave your Kernel as 3.03 and put both pspuae folders you listed in the GAME150 folder. You dont have GAME150 and GAME303 folders, both of these are needed. So just create them in the PSP folder.

Later Custom Firmwares create these dir's when formatting MS. i.e. I have 3.52 M33, when i format my MS, it also adds GAME352 and GAME150 to my PSP folder. So when in kernel 3.52, I can run 1.50 Homebrew in the GAME150 folder.

The easiest way around your original problem would be to use the 1.00 Folder (as stated in the readme). It would have worked then from your GAME folder without altering anything.

Hmm, well when I tried making a game150 folder, it wouldn't even recognise PSPUAE in XMB.
I tried the 1.00 folder and that just gave me the same error and wouldn't start the emu at all.

when i was on 3.03 OE (not so long ago) i definately used the 1.0 eboot in ms0:/psp/game150/pspuae/    and it worked fine... the kernel option made no difference as i wasnt using /game/   - afaik it should work in /game303/  too

try backing up your card then formatting it from the XMB?  as fol pointed out, it should create the folders automatically doing this... you can then just drag your old files back in, but in the new folders.
