Kick ROM 3.1 HD Setup Guide
« on: July 09, 2006, 06:05:58 PM »

Anyone know how the hell I setup a 4.3 Gig Drive (Partitioned to 3.8 Gig, to avoid the 4 Gig limit). I have the Original 3.1 ROM on my CD32, I have managed to get it working with IDEFIX, but thats hit and miss on wether it installs before it crashes and messes up HD Partition.

My final solution, was install OS3.9 in WinUAE, then manually install IDEFIX, then burn that HDF as a CD32 Bootable CD. This works great, but I still have to install the OS, then boot from it and IDEFIX it. By the time I have managed this, I garantee it will crash and mess partition up.

So anyone know of a sure fire way to do it?

err... it's been a long time since i set up an amiga HD!!

by the sounds of it, its the fact the HD is over the limit size - in spite of the partiton - that's causing the crash....

i'd say have a look around EAB for a solution.

Will do thanks.

**EDIT:- I have tried everything it says there and it still get problems. So I installed it in WinUAE, then made a cdrom of that perfect install. Then booted my CD32 up using that and copied CD0: all to DH0:

That got it working, think i really need to buy the new 3.1 KickRoms. That should solve it completely.
