Actually I check this page every day - I just do not post as much ;) Just wanted to say I am really impressed how you keep pushing the project and that the next version might have the sound improvements :D I can already hear the soundtrack of Blastar in the background...

Well, i am trying, :). What I have done is add another sound handler (from WinUAE) and stereo seperation, you can alter to help reduce the crackling. Well technically its no crackling, its the emulated sound output being to loud and the channels clash. I have removed the increase volume code to all 4 channels, to help reduce the clashes.

So there will be a new release that will fix the bugs from 070 and add a few things. 1 thing I should mention is that the audio bug in 070, gives a speed increase, so fixing this causes us to loose that speed increase. Horace said make it an option, so I did as some games work fine and you dont here the buffer spewing out random data.

nice work FOL, the idea of improving the sound offers major appeal to me (can't speak for everyone of course), i always say sound is 35% of a game, it makes a mediocre game into a good game. I love fiddling with your options in the emulator, just to see if i can fine tune the sound\speed\smoothness. It's not always possible with some games but some can be made to run very satisfyingly, if not perfect.

You and Horace are a good team, hope all goes well with the sound enhancement, even if you loose the slight 0.70 speed improvement gained from the sound bug.

you never run out of ideas on how to improve things, excellent work.

I'd buy you a pint of Horace's Bloodwych mead if I could, cheers!  :D

You've been on a right mission lately Fol tweaking this emu to the max!  ;D ...I can't wait for the next installment! :)

Is there anything you can get from the source from TTYman's Amiga build that could possibly help with sound/speed on a future build of PSPUAE? ...did you ever make contact with TTY to see if he'd get together with you guys?

Also how is Chilly's build coming along now? It's been a while since he announced he was joining the team ...are you guys actualy in contact with him regarding his build? ...are you helping out with his version or are you guy's independent now to what he's doing?

Am glad you've made it an option then.  I love the sfx and music in many Amiga games (moreso than a lot of modern games) and regularly play Amiga tunes on the PC and PSP so any improvements in the sound emulation are always welcome.

Its almost ready, just needs testing, :).

Changes will be;

Make sound bug into an option, as it gives a speed increase and only shows bug in a few games apps
Fix not saving Frameskip setting (thanks to horace, making me see the code clearly)
Replaced any calculation code with final figure (i.e. this x that x that / this), where possible
Added some of Gnostics optimisations from his forum posts
Tweak Official Cycle Unit to balance out CHIPSET option
Added Stereo Seperation option
Added Anti-Interpol sound code

Well, discovered a rather nasty bug, we had this bug appear before, but it wasnt anything I changed, :(. So will have to fix that first, as it screws up AmiDOS stuff. You end up with some stuff having a think black band down the left side of screen, :(.

EDIT:- Revised Changes, as of now. Minus the rather nasty black band bug.

Make sound bug into an option, as it gives a speed increase and only shows bug in a few games apps
Fix not saving Frameskip setting (thanks to horace, making me see the code clearly)
Tweak Official Cycle Unit to balance out CHIPSET option

Will sort it for testing, then we can release. I getting abit fedup of code now, just want a break.

Seems im my own enemy, :). I still wasnt happy with CPU2CHIPSET option, I feel I have now got it spot on, and its working ideal. Took a few hours and alot of calculations to workout how it works 100%.
