Lost newbie
« on: March 25, 2008, 02:02:52 AM »

Ah, my youth, spent jacking really old PCs around to get them to play what I wanted.  I always saw Amigas, heard about them and wanted to try one, but the family PC was what I used (it was a 286, if anyone cares).

So I jumped at Amiga emulation on my PSP.  I noticed Amiga versions of many games I used to love, like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, UFO: Enemy Unknown, Hero's Quest...

I even managed to get the kickstart ROMs and everything all set up.

But honestly, for someone who's never used an Amiga and knows nothing about them, I'm having a tough time.  The emulator feels like using an actual Amiga, minus having a mouse, keyboard and joystick.

It's a little confusing.  A lot confusing.

I don't suppose it would be possible to have a mode that just generally runs games as quickly and well as they can be run?  I spent way more time diddling confusedly with settings and waiting through load times than playing any games.

A shame, because I really want to play all my old favorites and all you Amiga folks' old favorites as well!

Horace has actually set up some save state games so you basically just choose the included configuration and  savestate and off you go. I found that there is still a small amount of messing around to be done to get the most speed out of the emulator as possible due to some recent changes in the emulator, its still a lot easier than running games from floppy drives though. Have a look in the downloads section for ram installed save states and have fun.  :)

Of course not all games are done but a good deal of classics are there for the picking.

a "fastest configuration" button sounds like a good addition into the new pspuae  ;D

Hey, that's awesome!  I'll check that out.  That sounds like it would be exactly what I need!  Thanks for the heads up.

Bah, no mention of FOL, I did alot of the RISS's to, ;). Also you forgot to mention the quick start configs.

;)

Errmm, we could but the fastest config for say "Turrican" might not be the fastest config for say "Pinball Dreams". So it would defeat the object, :(.
