Error 80020148
« on: June 07, 2008, 05:10:05 PM »

Hi I just bought my PSP today so I am totally new to this.

I followed the readme here and as my psp is a slim version I tried the CFW_SLIM folder but got the error in the subject.

I also see mentions about "homebrew capable psp's", so I must upgrade my firmware first ? Or what do "homebrew capable" mean ? Maybe that's totally obvious, but as I just bought my psp a few hours ago I am a bit confused. I went around to some sites that listed a huge number of different firmwares. So all in all:

Do I need to upgrade my firmware for PSPUAE to work ? In that case what version should I use ? Or is it some other problem ?

You need custom firmware, I have never done it on a slim, but I know its possible. Try searching google for guides on how to get custom firmware on your PSP.

you need a custom firware first, you will have an official sony firmware if you have bought a new official sony psp.

the slim can be hacked, just as the phat can be!

there are a few options.

make your own pandora battery\memory stick. then install your chosen custom firmware. (a fair bit of research will need to be done!)

buy a pandora battery\memory stick. they are widely available from stores like this:

http://www.logictoyz.com/sony-psp/slim-and-lite/modding.html

the easiest way is to buy a ready to run homebrew enabled psp off ebay and sell your new psp.

What delta and skate has said is true. If you can get hold of a Pandora battery, I can talk you through the rest.

Ok thank you for all the replies. Selling the new psp sounds boring :)

I'll check out that pandora battery.

Ahh, so this part isn't in the install readme. I guess you have to really be in to the PSP scene to know this stuff. I have a sony 4.05 ROM so I guess I can't run this either.

it's not in the readme because its taken as a given that to run homebrew you need a homebrew enabled PSP.

Sorry, although some people here will help you with such things, we're mostly here for PSPUAE as this is not a general PSP homebrew site. suggested avenuse of info: http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk  http://pspupdates.qj.net and http://www.psp-hacks.com

Horace has pointed you to some good places to research making your psp capable of running emulators like pspuae. basically you have an official sony firmware on your psp, you need a custom firmware (hacked version)

the best way is to get someone who's familiar with installing a custom firmware on a psp to do it for you.

if your rich or want it enough, you could buy a psp that has already had a custom firmware installed for you, it's not going to cost you more than 150.00 pounds sterling, or your being robbed!

Or - by getting yourself a pandora battery and magic memorystick, like these here:

http://www.logictoyz.com/sony-psp/sony-psp-2000/psp-2000-modding.html

then you can do it yourself, but please make sure you know what your doing before you even try it, people here cant and wont be held responsible for anybody screwing up there beloved psp's  :'(

Good luck  ;)

I recommend registering on the forums here: http://forums.exophase.com/

then start your research here: http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=6832

they can help you if your stuck, just post your questions if your not sure what to do  :)
