alien breed II Riss problems
« on: June 09, 2008, 09:25:06 PM »

Hi guys, I have downloaded  quite alot of RISS's and their are a few problems running on pspuae 0.70b, seems to be graphic break up on some intro's and alien breed II locks after intro's, then shuts down psp.

I know alien breed II adf savestate works ok on 0.70b, so not sure what to do, dont want to include none working stuff, sure to get moaners!

I havn't chaged anything in the riss, so I'm not sure where the problem originates from.

Has anyone encountered same problem? lemmings also has some graphic breakup on title screen.

Also, if i try the alien breed II config that works on the adf savestate, will this cause problems with the Riss Alien breed II state?

TUT TUT, someone aint read the FAQS, ;) on R.I.S.S.'s. Some do crash / glitch on first load, simply reload them or restart PSPUAE.

Taken from the R.I.S.S. FAQ's
The save-state isnt loading properly, or is crashing PSPUAE. What's wrong?

Certain states wont load properly on a first attempt. Either the game will be hung, and will the reset to the classic Amiga "guru" red-box screen, or a game will operate normally for a while, before resetting / crashing later on.

This is usually fixed simply by immediately loading the save-state again, after it has just been loaded. This seems to give PSPUAE the time to correctly set its options, move across to the appropriate kickstart and get the game running.

Another option you can try to avoid possible crashing is by loading the RISS's Config file first, resetting PSPUAE, (it should then reset to kickstart 3.0 with most RISS) and then you can re-attempt loading the save-state.

If problems persist, it is possible that you have an incorrect ROM labelled... for example, you may have kickstart 3.1 labelled as kick30.rom instead of kick31.rom. Select the roms on the menu, reset the amiga and check your roms are labelled correctly, by looking at the version number given on the Amiga boot screen.

On other occassions, you may find that PSPUAE and the PSP crash completely. This is likely to be due to a memory shortage if the save-state you have loaded is a particularly large one  (Alien Breed: Tower Assault for example is 6 meg) - if this problem persists, it is recommended you delete or re-name the backdrop picture used by PSPUAE, which can be found in the /PSPUAE/GUI/ folder. This frees the neccessary memory for PSPUAE to load and run larger savestates. On occasions, pre-loading the config file also avoids these crashes.

Large crashes such as this can also happen when you attempt to load a save-state for which you do not possess the required kickstart rom.

No No boss, I tried reloading RISS alien breed II  6 times and it still crashes after second vid intro, same place every reload of RISS.

Also noticed some Riss's dont like changing sound setting from 4ch to stereo.

Captive bug gone in Riss Horace! nice  :-*

Aye, AlienBreed seems to be the game that I have found, that breaks up when using chipset setting, best to leave it on CPU MAX. With the last speed increase its very playable now with CPU MAX.

Its running ok now, bit of graphic garble, left hand side of blue screen video but the game runs ok.

the setting of the CPU was already set to CPU=MAX in the RISS, think thats why it was crashing! reset it to CPU=Real or CPU= chipset 25%-30% and it works no problem. changing the sound setting from 4ch to stereo also crashes the game in RISS state.
