PSPUAE options guide... help me finish one.
« on: July 23, 2006, 04:29:42 PM »

Ok, spent a little while going through the config.txt file found in the latest source.  I've put together a basic guide that kind of explains what some of the options do but it's far from complete (and probably far from correct).  If any of you guys can help fill in the ??? parts and correct bits I've gotten wrong, I'd greatly appreciate it (and then I can finally start adding games to the DB).

So, without further ado... the guide:-

Chipsets

OCS = Original Chip Set A500 (512k) 1 Meg Ram max.
ECS_Agnus = ECS (Mixed OCS with Super Agnus) A500 (512k) - 1 Meg Ram max.
ECS_Denise = ECS (Mixed OCS with Super Denise)
ECS (Super Agnus & Denise) = Enhanced Chip Set A500+/A600 (1meg) 2 Meg Ram max.
AGA = Adv. Gfx Architecture A1200/4000/CD32 8 Meg Ram max (CURRENTLY NOT IN USE)

Blitter Cycle Exact & Immediate Blits - Helps with compatability
Direct VRAM Access - Accesses the VRAM Direct
Frameskip - Lets you set the amount of frames the Emulation will skip (This will change next version)
Zoom - Lets you zoom the normal 4:3 or 16:9 screen
Aspect Ratio - Lets you set Display as 4:3 or 16:9 (You can use L + R Trigger and Analogue stick to adjust)
Auto Zoom - Zooms to screen content (removes black borders around games) - Awesome piece of coding by Ric
Screen Lock - Locks screen so L + R Trigger and Analogue stick adjust is disabled

Collision Mode

Set the level of Amiga hardware collision detection

None - No collision detection
Sprites - Emulate Sprites vs Sprites detection
Playfields - Emulate Sprites vs Playfields detecion
Full -  Emualte Full hardware collsion detection

68040 A1200 (AGA)
68020/68881 A1200 (AGA)

CPU Speed

Max - Run Emulated CPU as fast as possable
Real - Run Emulated CPU at same speed as real Amiga
Chipset - Lets you adjust speed between CPU & Chipset

RAM

Fastmem 512k default / 4 meg max.
Chipmem 512k default / 2 meg max with OCS / 2 meg max with ECS
Bogomem 512k (Slow Mem)

ROMS

Kickstart 1.0 A1000
Kickstart 1.1 A1000
Kickstart 1.2 A1000/A500
Kickstart 1.3 A500/CDTV
Kickstart 2.0 & 2.04 A500+
Kickstart 2.05 A600/A600HD
Kickstart 3.0 A1200
Kickstart 3.1 A1200/CD32

Input

Analogue = Mouse/Joystick 0 & 1
Pad = Mouse/Joystick 0 & 1
Mouse States - Lets you save a point on screen and save to button
Key Combo`s - lets you assign Amiga keyboard keys to PSP buttons
Toggle X & O - Handy if you have a Japanese PSP and want to switch the X & O buttons in PSPUAE

DF0 & DF1 Disk Type - Lets you select HD or Standard Floppies.

I've left some of the options out as I thought they were pretty self explanatory.

Heh, and I've only just realised that 3 question marks brings up the relevant smiley.
