I've checked the firmware and it's 4.05. Would be grateful for next steps.
No need for a Pandora Battery. If you want to get one I suggest using DealExtreme. They have free shipping and are reliable - but they are slow.
All you need:
- Memory Stick
- Battery charged to more than 76%
I will guide you through loading 5.50 GEN-D3 on a PSP using the latest TIFF exploit - ChickHEN.
Instructions:
--NOTE-- If your PSP is anything below firmware 5.03 official, you will need to update to 5.03. Use this file. Place in /PSP/GAME/UPDATE/ and run --
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/16451) Download this file, it will have everything you need for the following --
HERE2a) Assuming you have 5.03 official firmware already installed you must now load ChickHEN. Go into the ChickHEN folder of the file you just downloaded. Copy h.bin to the root (ms0:/) of your PSP.
2b) If you have a fat (PSP-100x) then copy the image inside the FAT folder to the memory stick under /PSP/PHOTO/. If you have a slim (PSP-200x) then copy everything inside the SLIM folder to the memory stick under /PSP/PHOTO/
3a) Go into the 5-50_GEND3 folder and copy 550.PBP to the root of the memory stick.
3b) Copy the UPDATE folder to /PSP/GAME/
4) It's time to load ChickHEN, so unplug your PSP.
4a) If you have a Fat PSP, go over to the Photo section of your PSP and scroll down to the .tiff image. The screen should blank out then flash green, showing that ChickHEN has loaded. The PSP will then reboot.
4b) If you have a Slim PSP, first make sure that your theme is the original theme, or ChickHEN won't work as well. To do this, scroll over to Settings > Theme Settings and change the Theme to Original. Once you've done this, go over to the Photo section, wait 2 seconds then scroll through the color images until the PSP flashes green and reboots.
5) Scroll over to System Settings > System Information and check that next to System Software it says "5.03 ChickHEN R2". If it doesn't say this then you will need to try and load ChickHEN again. It may take a few times to work, in fact it took me 6 tries to get it to work when I was writing this guide. If you are having trouble loading ChickHEN, make sure there is no UMD in the drive, the USB cable is unplugged, there are no other photos in the Photo section apart from the ChickHEN files and maybe restore default settings under System Settings. [If you are struggling with ChickHEN, read this note BEFORE asking for help]
6) Assuming that ChickHEN has loaded, scroll over to GAME and open up the 5.50 GEN-D3 updater
7) Choose to enter, then choose Flash Install CFW 5.50 GEN-D3. Wait as the installer flashes 5.50 GEN-D3, then press X to reboot when prompted.
When your PSP reboots, you'll have the latest Custom Firmware (5.50 GEN-D3). Enjoy!
