USB Joystick problem...

Hello!
I posted this question on Lemon Amiga yesterday and someone very kindly directed me to you guys to hopefully find a solution...
I'm new to Amiga emulation on the Mac, I've found all the comments on this thread very helpful but now I've got an issue with getting my USB joystick to work....
I'm using a PowerBook G4
OSX 10.4.11
E-UAE 0.8.29 WIP4
Hi-Toro 0.5.0
Everything works fines except I can't get my Competition Pro USB joystick to work, I've tried changing the 'Devices' section several times: Joystick port 0= 'First' and 'Second Joystick'. Joystick port 1= 'First' and 'Second Joystick'. Every combination you can think of.
My mouse works fine and when Joystick port 1= Either joystick the 'Return' key on my keyboard works as Fire button!!!
Any help would be great
Many Thanks!

hi there!
i have a similar problem using my Playstation pads on USB with my macbook.
Instead of using the (very poor) joystick controls within hi-toro, i instead tell it i am using a keyboard based joystick (usually the numpad, since i dont have one) and then use an external program called 'ControllerMate' to map my pad to the numpad. I find this works far better than trying to use the joystick stuff in hi-toro which seems to go haywire on the X/Y axis anyway.
hope this helps.

Try running the game of your choice in a windowed UAE, right click the title bar and choose the joystick settings directly. I think the problem is, as Horace says, that Hi-Toro doesn't quite do the job.

Thanks for the input guys!
Both your solutions led to eventual answer. I had a third party piece of software installed called 'USB Overdrive' this must have been conflicting with E-UAE. As soon as I uninstalled the software the Joystick started working.
