.ACT and .BBK files
« on: July 15, 2007, 02:26:35 PM »

Hello.
A long time ago I posted this post.
After all that time I made two editors for the .CUT and .DOG data files of the game Flight of the Amazon Queen, that was made with AMOS on the Amiga and later C++ on the PC.

Anyway, I am now looking for information about .ACT and .BBK files. They both contain graphics, .ACT have animation frames and .BBK pictures.
Do you know if they were created with AMOS? If yes, how can I edit them?
Thanks.

Hello Vag,

The .ACT and .BBK files are not native AMOS files, they are probably custom formats for use in the game.  I did a search on-line for info and didn't get anything useful so it may be that this one will be a job for a hex editor and a clear mind.

Do you know if these files are compressed?  The .BBK may stand for something like "Bob Bank".  So perhaps it has a format similar to the AMOS .ABK files.  If .ACT is anim frames, then perhaps it's similar to the .IFF animation format.  These are just semi-educated guesses.  Perhaps a screen grab of the graphics and a hex output would help.
