PSPUAE running on PS VITA soon?
« on: March 02, 2012, 10:29:05 AM »

Hiya guys,

I decided to go for a PS Vita, nice piece of kit with lovely screen and better sound, also has dual analogues! hooray!!

With that in mind, I've already turned my eye over to looking for Vita homebrew. I was amazed to see that an Half Byte Loader is only a couple of days away. Looks like theirs an exploit been found  with PSP game (Motorstorm Arctic Edge) that you need to buy from the PSN.

http://wololo.net/wagic/vhbl/

Although it is code complete and tested, VHBL is not available for download yet. I am giving people a few days to buy the game Motorstorm Arctic Edge, in the hope that Sony will not remove it from their store until they actually have something to patch.
Important note: Motorstorm Arctic Edge is unfortunately not available for the Vita in the US. If you live in the US and want to buy that game for your Vita, you need to create an account in a different store (for example, UK), buy a PSN card from that store, and buy the game from that store.

With that in mind, do you see any problems with PSPUAE running on PS Vita running VHBL FOL?

look at picodrive running on PS Vita:

Looking forward to those amiga games on my new Vita  ;D

As I said before, it should run fine. Be interesting to see if its any faster given that old PSP is emulated for backwards compataility.
So in a way, your emulating on an emulated machine.

looks like sony blocked downloading of Motorstorm Arctic Edge already :(

Good job i got in two days ago!  :P
just hope wololo releases VHBL later today, we should be in buissness!

Thank goodness PSPUAE should run on Vita, looking forward to Goldrunner and Xenon on that great Vita Screen.

Already wondering if pspuae can utilise the second analogue stick mapping the X,O,[],/\  buttons like you can on some psp titles. I'm sure this might prove intresting with certain amiga games.

Have you fixed your vita windows app, cause if you connect to it, it can patch your vita without telling you.
So it stops exploits instantly, you got other emus working.

Edit:-
Maybe the reason is this? They have a problem with mini's is the game you got a mini?

Google Search

I dont have a vita, so I cant look into, need to know how it handles files etc etc. Does it emulate an mem stick for psp emulator?
If I get chance, will look around dev forums.

Any luck delta?

Im torn, I either get a PC upgrade, Vita or Ipad 2.
Cant have all three, :(.

I have been looking into it and it appears, the vita emulates psp at 333MHz, so unless that can be changed, you aint going to see any speed increase. It will run exactly the same.

It's ok, i used open CMA r3 to block sony's sneaky access (link below)

http://wololo.net/downloads/index.php/download/1252

I have PSP MAME4ALL v4.9r2 Hires by TTYman working until you want to play a different rom and need to access the rom menu!! theirs no Home button on the Vita, the equivalent button on the Vita freezes the emulator.

snes9xTYL working ok

mh gpspkai (GBA emu) works ok

PSPUAE installs fine using VHBL and lets you launch to just before the PSPUAE Logo, black screen and back to Vita's home menu.

Hopefully its sony's bug, the same error code is being experienced by some genuine psp mini titles bought officially through PSN.

Well, The vita's a quality piece of Kit, the build quality puts the PSP to shame.

I was pleasantly suprised, everything seems solid, the shape is nice and big!! the screen is amazing and its much bigger and causes less strain to my old eyes lol.............0h, almost forgotten the dual analogues!!

Ditch the 3G version and get the wireless version, now going for under £200 on amazon buddy :)

Treat yourself, you deserve it.......I think you'll be pleasantly suprised  :o

you did install it with kickstarts right?

LOL, could i be so stupid? of course!! I'm not sure but you got me thinking now, maybe I did?

I'll have a few more attempts, might try 0.72 version, I seen something about lots of psp signed stuff causing problems, including legit mini's.

Its quite possible pspuae wont run, lots of psp homebrew just wont work with VHBL so far.
I tried picodrive v1.35 which is suppose to work, It wont work for me!!
So I tried v1.51, that works, then crashes when you try selecting a new rom.

You still getting a Vita Horace? hope so, I'm confident you'll find a way of running PSPUAE. Just need you to twist FOL's arm up his back, he's gotta get one!!

I'm going experimenting again, I'll be 100% sure to stick those kickstarts in the install  ::)

UPDATE:
Well, I checked 0.80 beta 20, the kicks were indeed in the install and a second install produced the same black screen with the same error code.

I was about to call it it quits but decided to grab the 0.72 version off the site and try again.
Install went well, bingo! the pspuae logo appeared, then we get to menu by pressing select.....wow, its working!

mmm....then things go wrong again  :(

I used a clean 0.72 install with kicks and a few fav .adf's unzipped to eliminate any problems, no savestates, no configs ect.
although the game .adf files are viewable and scrollable, when you actually select one nothing happens, it wont insert into the drive.

So in short:
PSPUAE 0.72 installs using VHBL
PSPUAE boots up and you can get to the PSPUAE 0.72 menu's
You can view/scroll adf files in disks.
Thats where things end, unable to insert adf in either drive  :(

I'm missing something but seem close. The problem is very similiar to picodrive 1.35. Everything goes well up to the point of selecting the rom/ADF from the menu. Your able to select the Rom/ADF but the emulator doesn't seem to recognise your selection and carries on without recognising your selection.

I'm going to try some zipped ADF's and hope to get further!!

Nice, so it wants unsigned stuff?

Try 0.80 beta3, that should be unsigned, also check beta thread for unsigned versions.
0.72 doesnt use the updated toolchain code (I added lots of stuff and fixed alot of bugs).

Just tried 0.72 install from years ago, with savestates and configs.

still wont recognise the states when selected, same as adf's.

I really think its a directory problem, i'm going to try putting some adf's in a folder I can browse to using the .. in pspuae menu.

I read somewhere as its an emulator it does things differently.
Dirs was one of the main topics, not sure if its related.

Doubt, Ill get a vita as hack has already been patched by sony.
Plus by the time I find out about hacks, they are yanked and patched.
Sony appears to jump on anything instantly these days.
Vita may be a nice console, but they have given themselves extra security as they control the downloadable content.

you are joking right FOL??  We are talking literally *days* after release and you have given up already?

tsk-tsk. I'm disappointed FOL - I thought you knew better than that ;) Door being opened, etc etc

If you think one (very minor tbh) exploit an patch is it, you gotta be kidding!
