I think the Nexus 7 is the best tablet ever released.
I rooted it, the day I received it (ebuyer released to early, ). Since then I have been playing around with it on and off.
I recently starting looking at kernels, I saw there were a few, so I downloaded them.

Anyways, the specs of the nexus 7 are;
Quad Core CPU and 12 Core GPU (Tegra3).
CPU clocked at 1.2GHz and GPU at 300MHz.

Now some clever people have been tweaking their own kernels and releasing them.
So I decided to try some, as I have seen people running their Nexus 7 at;
CPU clocked at 1.8GHz and GPU at 650MHz.

So I thought, I would try this one, I installed and WoW!!!!!!!
It flies, generates little heat and rips the crap out of every android tablet on the market in hardware tests.

The best thing about this Kernel is the battery life. On a normal day of usage (I use it in work to), batt would start at 100% and be at 60 to 70% by end of day.
Now I start off at 100% and by the end day (same / simular usage) its at 96%.
Its staggering the vast improvement just changing the kernel has had.

Its awesome for every type of emulation, everything is fullspeed and runs without issue.
So anyone else got a Nexus 7?

I made the mistake of listening to all the hype about IPAD 3 and bought one, biggest mistake of my life as I dont want to browse the web and read emails. Thats basically all the ipad does.

What I relay want is a 7" tablet (full 1080p) that can be stripped down and have the backlight removed. Also with a HDMI out.

If I could get that then I'd love to do a DIY projector, for now I will just keep dreaming. Just think off all those Amiga games on a 100" diagonal projector screen.

LY-F1 clone is what your after. That was my first Android tablet, £80.
Specs are;

1GHz CPU, Mali 400Mhz GPU.
2060p (Double HD) HMDI out.
Its a great starter tablet.

I bought my kids the SumVision Astro+
Same spec, but has Daul Mali 400MHz GPU.

Best thing about these Allwinner A10 tablets is, they are unbrickable.

Ly-f1 clones and sumvisions have hdmi ports.

All you need is the nexus7 root toolkit.
Install CWM recovery, do a full nandroid backup and your set. 4 clicks a most.
You would have to be mellon to brick it.

the only way to brick android device is cut off power when flashing kernel because you ALWAYS can put your phone in download mode and flash android rom from your company(sony,samsung) but to flash KERNEL you need special debug board

Not exactly true. You talking about a full brick init scripts etc etc. Kernel can always be reflashed by reflashing rom.
I was refering to soft brick. Even then you would have to do something stupid like alter a system file without understanding it (like I did on my first tablet, luckely its unbrickable, its hard coded to boot usb on switch on).

Correct, it gives you full control over it. Some things wont work unless your rooted.
You also get a custom recovery, incase you get in trouble. The recovery allows full backups and restores.
Updates can be a problem, but you just download the update file from google and flash it with recovery update.

Its sounds hard, but trust me, its all learning. I had'nt touched an android device until beginning of this year. Never looked back, I would say I know a fair amount now.

If you ever root, I would recommend the updated kernel, that gives insane battery life, .
Been using it for 5 hours now and the battery is still on 98%, . Beats  my IPAD 3.
