House Moved
« on: November 24, 2013, 10:23:43 PM »

A complete nightmare move  >:( .
But the new location is beautiful  :) .
No internet for a few days yet (this is a painful post from my mobile).
Can't wait to be fully operational again, I've got an AMOS V2.01 beta to release - some bug fixes and a rather drastically revised Help system I need some feedback on.
Gotta go.  Typing this on a mobile is driving me nuts  ;D .

Still pecking away on a mobile  >:( .
The problem was too many boxes to unpack (about 80!).  And we had decided to store most of our stuff in our garage at our new home.  Then move it into the house as needed.  Big mistake!  Everything is labelled but after the move it's all mixed up  ;D .
Managed to find all my Amiga and AMOS docs and sources (printed stuff in display books) so plenty of reading material.  BUT no sign of modem, router and cables.  Finally found them, so I can be back in action by the weekend hopefully.

Can't wait to get off the smartphone.  The cursor's invisible so corrections are a very hit and miss experience.  >:(

Good to hear about the beta.  Good to hear your move is approaching completion.  Sorry to hear that it was a nightmare move.

Finally got an internet connection on ADSL on the 23rd.  It lasted just long enough for Windows and Norton to catch up on updates  >:( .
Trying to get the fault fixed on Christmas Eve got me nowhere.  So no internet until after Christmas  ::) .
So from my mobile once more:
A very Merry Christmas to everyone  ;)

Well, the area we moved to is called the Southern Highlands in NSW.  So although we had 36C last Sunday, the humidity is very low, which makes it bearable  ;) .
Mostly it's much cooler here so today is only 25C, cold winds, cloudy and the chance of rain.  So it's traditional Christmas dinner.  Tummy's rumbling already!

Erm, well, I'm an ex-pat.  Born and bred in Birmingham.  Moved Down Under in 1977.  Only came here to get married and intended to stay for a six week holiday.  Couldn't bear to leave...  ;D
We did all the feasting and rolling and falling down.  It was great!
But still no @!*@!!! internet!  Typing on a smartphone is like washing your feet with your socks on!   ;D

Waah!  Now I do feel old   :'(
Latest from my ISP is that I'll have my connection back "sometime before 7th of January"!   >:( .  More waaah!
The good news is that they're in the process of installing a new port card in their DSLAM, so it won't be too long before they can give me an ADSL2+ connection themselves.  The whole debacle resulted because they're having to go through a third-party, Telstra (the Aussie equivalent of BT) who have a reputation for lousy service (which I can now agree with!!!).
Have a great New Year everyone   ;D

According to the corner of my screen, it's 3:20am January 21.  Have you got your internet back, BruceUncle?

 *shrugs* indeed  ;D .

Yep, I finally got re-connected on 2nd January when the Telstra engineer actually acknowledged there was a problem.  Apparently I was "on the wrong channel" whatever that means.  Then on 7th January, my reliable ISP (iiNet) put me on to one of their own ADSL2+ ports and the third-party was gone for good  :) .

Unfortunately, the 7th January was when my older brother turned up complete with entourage from Canada via New Zealand.  This included my brother, sister-in-law, their daughter and her daughter, a 2-and-a-half year old just entering the "terrible twos"  :( .  I was expecting the visit in February when we were more settled in and unpacked but their plans had been changing with the wind (including, thinking of turning up on Christmas Eve at one point!).

Anyway, it was great to see them all even if the ladies seemed to spend half their time here tying my machine up on social media (apparently the iPad "wasn't as good ").  They're now back in New Zealand contemplating whether to stay longer or go back to -15ÂșC in Canada.  A hard choice  ;D .  Unless anyone really wants to hear the whole story I'll leave it at that.  ;)

So I'm back in action (barring all those tasks we've got around the new home) so I'll continue in this thread.
